Browning Superposed B25 20 Gauge – EXHIBITION GRADE, SIDEPLATES, vintage firearms inc
Description:
General Specs: Browning, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 2oz, Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 1 3/4", DAC 1 1/4"
Serial Number: C-160
The Browning Superposed has always had a devoted following. By the 1970's Browning realized there was no profit in keeping the gun in production. Beginning in 1977, the Superposed was offered as custom order in the Presentation series, and later in the 1980's as the B-25. The Presentation guns were ornate, but the hand engraving of years past was replaced with acid etching for all but the top grade, the P4. The later years brought many variations that were mostly marketed to Europe and the United Kingdom where the Browning designed Superposed is still immensely popular today. The Browning Superposed we present here, snC-160, was built as an EXHIBITION GRADE, as documented by the Browning factory letter indicating this one-of-a-kind Superposed was custom ordered by a factory employee who did not take possession of the gun. THIS IS NOT AN UPGRADED SUPERPOSED UPGRADED BY AN OUTSIDE SOURCE AS MOST YOU SEE ARE. THIS IS A FACTORY ORIGINAL MASTERPIECE. What a gorgeous, simple, elegant example of a factory side-plated Exhibition Grade gun, with midnight black frame and furniture delicately inlaid with fine gold wire in a tasteful, not gaudy, fashion. As characteristic of an Exhibition Grade gun, the lettering on the barrels is executed in hand-engraved fine script style lettering, the wood is fully figured, feather-crotch exhibition quality walnut ending in a skip-line checkered butt, and the workmanship is impeccable throughout. The wood-to-metal fit, the quality of the metal polishing, the meticulous striking of the barrels, the flawless wood finish, and the perfect 28 line-per-inch checkering all demonstrate the quality and craftsmanship that made the Browning Superposed and the artisans at the FN Belgium factory famous the world over. THIS SUPERPOSED IS IN 99.5%, AS NEW, MINTY CONDITION, with no marks in the wood and only the faintest signs of a primer mark on the standing breech of the action. It may be unfired and only factory test fired. Fired or not, there is not a notable mark on the gun. The most desirable 28” IC/M barrels have perfect bores. The factory Superposed case that comes with the gun is in excellent condition as well and includes the key. Weighing just 6lbs. 2oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, it is lighter than most twenty-gauge Superlight Browning guns, and with the delicate Schnabel style forend, she handles and points like a wand. You will not see another Browning Superposed like this one, and she belongs in your collection of fine Browning B25 Superposed guns. This gun is priced to sell, so please call right away if you want to make her yours! Thanks for looking.
