BERETTA S57E 12 GAUGE – SINGLE TRIGGER, 28”, 98%, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Beretta, 1970, 12 Gauge, 7lbs. 4oz., M/F Chokes, LOP 14 3/8″, DAH 2 3/8″, DAC1 3/8″ Serial Number: P35221 As seen on DOGS AND DOUBLES; “The S57 was one of the trio of over-under shotguns that Beretta introduced in 1955. There was S55 (Silver Snipe), the S56 (Golden Snipe), and the S57 (Ruby Snipe). These OUs combined features of Beretta’s expensive, handmade ASEs and sidelock S1s with mass-production techniques. In their day, Beretta’s S55, S56, and S57 competed with OUs like the Superposed. But the S55, S56, and S57 weighed less and cost less than Browning’s gun Thanks to these differences, the Beretta’s S-line of OUs sold well. Over time, these guns evolved into some of the best-selling OUs ever, like the Beretta 686 and the S687 Silver Pigeon.” This gun is the S57E with a single SELECTIVE trigger, ejectors, a Prince of Wales grip and slender field style forend. The gun retains 98% of its factory finishes in metal and wood with only a few light handling marks and a few freckles on the metal. Proofed in 1970, this Beretta locks up tight with the barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun. Weighing just 7 ¼ pounds and balanced dead on the hinge pin, she is a lively upland gun that can do the job on the clays course as well. See the specifications below for details. Available information says the guns are hand engraved, and it is a beautiful rose and scroll engraving covering most of the action. Made for the European market with sling swivel studs that make sense for an upland hunter that needs hands free at times to handle the dog work, eat a sandwich, or answer mother nature’s call. It is hard to find a tree to lean your gun against in most bird hunting states in the west, so a light sling would come in handy. The gun comes in a hard case and a nice sling included. Our gunsmith department can remove the sling studs if the new owner wants them gone. The gun is priced very affordably, especially considering the reliability and quality of Beretta’s shotguns and the cost of new high quality over/under guns in today’s marketplace. The older guns are better made as well. Thanks for looking!
