Beretta ASE 20 Ga - 1963, FACTORY ASEL WOOD, 5LBS. 6OZ!, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Beretta, 1963, 20 Gauge, 5lbs. 6oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP 13 7/8″, DAH 2 3/8″, DAC 1 5/8″ Serial Number: 29928 The Beretta ASE was the last of the boxlock hand-fitted, hand-engraved and checkered premium guns from Beretta before the machine-made guns began with the S57 series. Built from 1949 until the MID-1960’S’s, most acknowledge the ASE was one of the strongest and best of the earlier Beretta over/under guns. Later ASEL guns were heavy target guns and not the same as these earlier guns. This gun, sn29928 built in 1963, was purpose-built as a game gun with its fine-combed English comb, Prince of Wales pistol grip, slim field style forearm, 26 3/4” Chrome Molybdenum steel barrels with ventilated rib, all weighing just 5lbs. 6oz. and balanced perfectly 3/16” ahead of the hinge pin. The gun is in NEAR NEW FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION, WITH 98% FACTORY FINISHES ON ALL WOOD AND METAL. The gun locks up tight, is still tight on the hinge pin, the bores are mirror perfect, the hand-rubbed oil finish is all there with only a few tiny handling marks on the richly figured European walnut stocks. MOST ASE GRADE GUNS HAVE PLAIN WOOD FIGURE. THIS GUN WAS FACTORY STOCKED WITH THEIR LUXURY WALNUT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE HIGHER GRADE ASEL GUN. THE WOOD IS STUNNING AND BRINGS THE GUN UP TO A CLASS OF ITS OWN. With the clean and graceful hand cut border scroll engraving, scalloped back of the action, sculpted frame, and luxurious wood the gun has a simple elegance. The checkering shows no wear, the wood-to-metal fit is superb, the mechanics are excellent, all ready for generations of service. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO ITS SMALLEST PARTS, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, ALL PARTS INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED. VFI Certified guns have a 90-day mechanical warranty. What a great gun for your upland quarry, with good modern stock dimensions and IC/M chokes that will do well on the clays course too. Our gunsmithing department can make any necessary alterations for the new owner within days of purchase…maybe have us upgrade the gun and lengthen the LOP with a fine Purdey style leather covered pad. Nothing looks better on a high-end shotgun than a properly done leather pad! I GET TO HANDLE A LOT OF FINE GUNS, AND THE HANDLING DYNAMICS OF THIS BERETTA OVER/UNDER ARE UNSURPASSED. IT IS THE BEST FEELING OVER/UNDER GUN IN HAND I HAVE EVER HANDLED REGARDLESS OF PRICE! The specifications are below. What a great gun at a very affordable price. You can’t find a hand engraved and checkered, hand fit over/under in today’s market until you spend at least twice as much.
