AYA mod 53 hvy duty 12 ga, gold washed 7 pin detachable locks, Purdey 3rd byte, side clips, deep full-coverage eng,1957 quality-98%, BT, strt grp
Description:
This elegant 1957 model 53 12 bore was designed for lots of shooting however this one has not seen much at all.
I used it for pigeons in South America and is ideal for pigeon, dove, pheasant or duck- Chrome lined bores, gold washed internals, hand detachable H & H style 7 pins locks, Purdey style 3rd bite and side clips, articulated front trigger. And yet a managable 7 pds 6 oz. The 27 1/2 inch barrels have 2 3/4 in chambers and lots of thickness with 11 pts choke in right (lite mod) and 22 points choke in left (lite IM). It has an elegant semi-beavertail forearm and 14 1/2 inch LOP to pad including a 1/4 " spacer (which can be removed and the pad refitted easily if so desired). Balances very well and has been properly cared for and was gone through by Jack Rowe in 2011 or so. It has not been shot in over 11 years when I stopped going to South America.
To replace this gun of this quality today would be well over $20K.
