Arrieta pre-Model 900 12 Ga. – 7 PIN, HAND DETACHABLE, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Arrieta, 1971, 12 Gauge, 6lbs. 14oz., Chokes M/F, LOP 14 5/8", DAH 2 1/8", DAC 1 3/8" Serial Number: 15968 Arrieta is among the finest Spanish shotguns produced in the true Basque traditions. Michael McIntosh praises Arrieta in his book “Best Guns” and in fact carried his Arrieta afield as much as any other gun he owned. The Basque makers were famous for making quality “copies” of other guns like the Holland and Holland sidelock this Arrieta mimics. This Arrieta (like a Model 900 but an earlier, custom ordered gun), is from the upper end of the Arrieta line and has everything Arrieta offered except the self-opening feature. With a SEVEN pin hand-detachable sidelock action, gold-washed internal parts and triggers, intercepting safety sears, perfectly struck chopper lump barrels, auto safety, removable striker discs, articulated front trigger, stocked to the fences, cocking indicators, beetle back safety, 70% coverage Purdey rose and scroll engraving (done by hand, of course)… you have BEST GUN FEATURES AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE of a British built gun! Arrieta closed its doors for a few years and is now back in operation having joined forces with Arrizabalaga, Spain’s preeminent gunmaker. They are available new and special order here in the states at William Larkin Moore, one of the premier European gun sellers in the USA. This Arrieta was built in 1971 and remains in very high condition and has factory finishes throughout. The 28” chopper lump barrels are perfectly struck and retain 99% of their dark blue, perfect mirror shiny bores, barrels tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, ribs tight, no dents…just a perfect set of barrels choked M/F, and custom-ordered with reinforcing sideclips for heavy loads. The action retains 99% vivid case color, sharp, clean, hand-cut engraving, perfect screws, trigger guard 98% factory blue, excellent mechanics. The English style stock with diamond wrist has perfect layout through the wrist, nicely marbled English walnut, perfect checkering with mullered borders, and retains most all its hand-rubbed oil finish. Buy this gun with confidence, a VFI CERTIFIED GUN with a 90-day mechanical warranty! We stripped the action and forend to the smallest parts, Ultrasonic cleaned and scrubbed all parts to shiny metal, inspected all parts for integrity and function, lubricated and reassembled, a $450 service in our shop.
