Arrieta is one of the finest of the Spanish made shotguns produced in the true Basque traditions.  Michael McIntosh praises the Arrieta in his book "Best Guns" and in fact carried his Arrieta afield as much as any other gun he owned.  The Basque makers were famous for making quality "copies" of other guns like the Holland and Holland sidelock, and this Arrieta is a five pin sidelock with perfectly struck chopper lump barrels, removable striker discs, articulated front trigger, stocked to the fences, beaded fences, cocking indicators, nicely executed border engraving, hand-detachable sideplates, coin finished action… you have ALL OF THE BEST GUN FEATURES AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE of a British built gun!  The Arrieta Crown Sable was in fact built exclusively for the British market, as is noted by the Birmingham proof marks on the barrel flats.  The gun remains in proof with its 2 ¾” factory chambers.  The 26” chopper lump barrels have mirror bores and are choked IC/M.  The gun weighs a delightful 6 1/4lbs. and balances perfectly dead on the hinge pin.  IT IS A LIGHT AND LIVELY GUN, PERFECTLY CHOKED FOR YOUR UPLAND PURSUITS, AND LIGHTER THAN MOST 16 AND 20 GAUGE GUNS.  BEING A 12 BORE IT WILL HAVE A MORE DEADLY, SHORT SHOT STRING THAN THE SAME LOAD IN A 16 OR 20 DUE TO BORE DIAMETER BEING NOTABLY LARGER IN THE 12GA. GUN.  The gun has seen some use but is in excellent mechanical condition.  Built in 1978 it is of modern steel.  The stock is nicely figured and the dimensions are modern as well.  Best of all, this is a top-quality shotgun at a very affordable price.  In fact, there are many auto-loaders that now cost close to $3000 in today’s market.  The Arrieta is a classic upland gun meant to be gracefully carried afield behind fine dogs.  If you hunt grouse, woodcock, or the Bobwhite quail, this is the perfect, fast-handling gun for the task.  Thanks for looking!
