W.H. Baker, Trigger-Break, Hammer Double, 12 Ga. c.1876, SN:832  

Description:
          This very interesting American Shotgun has a shining place in firearms history. W.H. Baker was a very creative gun designer whose inventions became the foundation for all L.C. Smith shotguns to follow.  
          This early W.H. Baker gun displays a very innovative feature. The action is opened by pushing forward on the front trigger. Not being a shotgun guy, it puzzled me at first. It looked like a box lock with no means to open it. Too heavy for a muzzle loader and there were no Nipples. It had firing pins so it has to be a breech loader. I hate to admit it, but I had to go to You-Tube, the shame of it. Perhaps my agony will prove some fun for you with your friends.
          This gun remains in very nice condition for its age. The early serial number suggests it was among the first, made in Lisle N.Y. The highly figured Walnut remains in excellent condition. There is a small chip at the rear edge of the left side lock and a small crack at the right side lock, both are pictured. The action is fully functional, with strong hammer springs and good firing pin return springs. There is no corrosion or pitting anywhere. The Damascus barrels do have some dings at the rear above the chambers, as pictured.  The barrels are sound and "Ring" like bells. The outside of the barrels show no dents or problems but there is some minor spotting of corrosion in the rear 1/3 of both bores. I am unable to photograph this due to depth of field problems.
This is a nice example of American shotgun historical evolution.  
12 Ga. with a 30 ¼” inch barrels.  Serial Number: 832.  ANTIQUE, No FFL or C&R Required.

SHIPPING: 
Normally shipments are made via U.S.P.S. Priority Mail, Insured, with Signature required. Packing, Shipping and Insurance cost for this Long Gun is $60.00.

RETURNS:
Returns must be made within 3 days of receipt. They must be received in exactly the same condition with no parts exchanged.  If it has been altered, damaged, or fired, a refund will not be made.  Packing, shipping and insurance cost will not be refunded.  All layaway purchases are returnable for merchandise credit only.
 PAYMENT: 
Bank check, Personal check, and Money Orders are preferred. Visa and MasterCard are accepted with a 3% processing fee. For Visa and MasterCard orders please provide the account number, code number, expiration date, name on card, phone number and card billing address. This information can be phoned in, or E-Mailed.  All orders must be paid in advance, C.O.D. orders are not accepted. Checks, both Bank and Personal must clear before the order will be shipped, usually a 2 week delay. 
 LAYAWAYS: 
A 20% deposit is required.  Balance is due in 30 days. Deposits are non-refundable and are forfeited after 30 days.  Layaway sales are returnable for merchandise credit only.
SALES TAX: 
Pennsylvania state sales tax is 6% for in state purchases. The payment of other states sales tax, if applicable, for shipped items is the buyers responsibility.
