Parker Field & Son Volunteer Percussion .577 cal
Description: Parker Field & Sons Pattern 1853 Volunteer rifle. 33" round barrel with saber bayonet lug, 2 iron retaining band,s and one piece oil finished walnut stock. Case colored lock marked "PARKER FIELD & SONS" with case colored butt plate and blued iron trigger guard assembly. London-proofed breech with #25. Correct loading rod. These civilian / commercially sold Volunteer rifles were sold and many having come to the US during the terrible northern incursion into the South. Condition, Very fine with strong shadows of case color on lock and butt plate. Barrel has a mixture of blue and brown patina. Bore is 58 cal, and has been professionally bored smooth.
