FACTORY ENGRAVED French Gun with EJECTOR

Here we present an antique Factory Engraved Ernest Gabriel Roblin Side by Side Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun, made circa the mid to late-1880s in Paris, France. Roblin began his gunmaking trade sometime around 1856 and in 1889 his business was renamed “Roblin et Fils”, French for Roblin and Son. An article from 1890 noted that Roblin had been in business for over 30 years at that time.

This gorgeous double has Damascus barrels and very fine and beautiful engraving throughout. There is a small silver placard on the underside of the stock that bears a family crest that is a knight’s head above a shield flanked by rampant unicorns. This double has ejectors. Wonderful grain in the French walnut stock.

The overall condition is fine. Great Damascus twist pattern remains on the barrels. The actions are excellent. The bores are smooth and bright with no pitting. The stock is handsome and solid and shows some use. This shotgun feels light and slender in the hand and will still make an excellent choice for upland birds.
