A.W. Spies , Fowler , early shot gun
.630 bore
Description: Listing the oldest firearm I own, stamped A.W. Spies ( warranted ) on right side of lock, a now deceased builder of both flintlock and Cap rifles told me this piece dates to 1830-1850 as the A.W. Spies builder of gun parts was in business from 1815-1872 , this is a 40";smooth bore with a pretty decent bore which measures at .630, a 28 ga. Shot shell slides in the muzzel end fine but not a 20. ga.nipple appears in good condition I don't see why it would not fire in the hands of a knowledgable shooter of these antique shotguns and he said they used them as a smooth bore musket as well. These old pieces hung over many fireplaces back in the day. I made a trade over twenty years ago and kept it as a conversation piece for all these years. It comes apart easily as was nesasary in the proper cleaning of black powder shooting . Wood is free of cracks , just normal dings that would be incurred in the 185 year life of this old gal. I accept only postal money orders or a cashiers check , I ship priority insured through USPS and will provid you with a tracking number as well. My sales are to the lower 48 , possibly to Alaska as well. any questions please call or text me at 920-590-3400 , enjoy your day. SOLD Antique: Yes Shotgun Gauge: 28 Gauge Manufacturer: A.W.
