ST LOUIS Antique J.P. GEMMER SxS 10 Gauge Hammer Shotgun 1800s HAWKEN SHOP Frontier HAWKEN RIFLE SHOP Double Barrel Shotgun
Description: ST LOUIS Antique J.P. GEMMER SxS 10 Gauge Hammer Shotgun 1800s HAWKEN SHOP Frontier HAWKEN RIFLE SHOP Double Barrel Shotgun Here we present an antique J.P. Gemmer Percussion Side by Side Hammer Shotgun in 10 Gauge, made sometime in the mid-19th Century in Saint Louis, Missouri. J.P. Gemmer (1838-1919) is a name that will always be associated with the fur trade and the old West. Johann Phillip Gemmer immigrated to the United States with his family while young, first landing in New Orleans before taking a steamboat up the Mississippi River to St. Louis. From there, he and his family settled in Boonville, Missouri. By the time he was 20 years old he was living in St. Louis, working for a gunmaker by the name of Emanual Kleinhen before working for none other than the famous Hawken Brothers making their iconic rifles. He took over the famous Hawken Rifle Shop in about 1862 and some of his guns were marked with the Hawken family name in addition to his own. This double barrel hammer gun would have been used for putting game on the table and protecting the homestead. It is really quite a hefty shotgun. This is truly a classic American piece that would be a nice addition to any Western Frontier Collection. The overall condition is good. The actions are functional, the bores dark and smooth, and the stock repaired around the wrist in a very practical and expedient sort of way. A great piece of living history right here! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 35 inches. Caliber: 10 Gauge Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1050 #190998 SOLD Antique: Yes |
