Scarce WILD WEST Antique C.S. SHATTUCK “American” Single Barrel 10g SHOTGUN DOUBLE TRIGGER Made in HATFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS
Description: Scarce WILD WEST Antique C.S. SHATTUCK “American” Single Barrel 10g SHOTGUN DOUBLE TRIGGER Made in HATFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS Here we present an antique C. S. Shattuck “American” Single Barrel Double Trigger Shotgun, made circa the mid-1880s in Hatfield, Massachusetts. Major Charles S. Shattuck served with the 6th Vermont Infantry in the Civil War and later lived on Main St. in Hatfield, Mass. In 1875 C.S. Shattuck and Andrew Hyde started a pistol manufacturing business in Springfield, Mass. In February of 1877, Andrew Hyde and Major Charles S. Shattuck brought their Springfield pistol manufacturing business to Hatfield and went into a partnership with Mrs. Mary D. Porter in the Thomas Meekin sawmill on Prospect St., formerly the Crescent Pistol Co. In 1878 Mrs. Porter withdrew her partnership and the business was continued by Hyde and Shattuck. In 1880 Shattuck bought out Hyde and continued the factory alone, turning out many revolvers. Soon after he began to make single-barreled breech-loading shotguns, and then few years later double-barreled shotguns. The overall condition is very good. Some original finish has been preserved. Strong action all around. Dark bore. This example sports a solid stock with an average amount of wear. Legible markings. “AMERICAN” marked atop the barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34 inches. Caliber: 10 Gauge Chambers: 3-1/4 with Extractor LOP: 13-3/4 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #233457 SOLD Antique: Yes |
