Description: ANTIQUE Unmarked Single Shot “SCREW BARREL” Centerfire 20 Gauge Shotgun Single Shot Small Game FOWLING PIECE/SHOTGUN Here we present an antique Unmarked Single Shot “Screw Barrel” 20 Gauge Centerfire Shotgun made circa the 1880s. The 20 gauge shotgun, also known as a “20 Bore” is a type of smooth-bore shotgun that fires a shell that is smaller in caliber (.615 inch) than a 12 gauge shotgun (.729 inch). It is often used by beginning shooters for target practice and for hunting small game. Often touted as a “beginner’s gun” because of its attractiveness to young shooters, it is usually lightweight with thin patterns and doesn’t deliver a big charge as compared to a 12 gauge, which could potentially scare away a young shooter. There wasn’t any wing shooting involved here, just pop them wherever they were and take ‘em home for mom to cook. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. Solid, nicely checkered stock.
