FINE CONDITION MODEL '02 .22 SHORT, LONG & EXTRA LONG SINGLE SHOT BOYS' RIFLE.
Description: FINE CONDITION MODEL '02 .22 SHORT, LONG & EXTRA LONG SINGLE SHOT BOYS' RIFLE. These fine little rifles were made from 1902-1931 when they fell victim to the Great Depression. When encountered, these are usually found in poor condition as their original owners "loved them to death." The .22 Extra Long was slightly longer than the .22 Long Rifle shell and it was common practice to shoot the L.R. in the Extra Long chamber. This example has a very fine stock that is not chipped or cracked (a rarity in itself). Correct Winchester embossed butt plate and fancy curved steel trigger guard. Good blue on the rear half of the barrel with the front portion thinning/mixing gray-brown. Exc. markings, tight action actiated by manually pulling back on the bolt knob. Bore shows good rifling with scattered light corrosion- much better than usually found. Original fixed notched rear sight with small blade front sight. One can only imagine the delight on the face of some young boy (girl?) when this little 18" barrel rifle was received for a birthday gift or perhaps under a Christmas tree...
