Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Winchester Post-64 Good Condition Mfg. 1977
Description:
The Winchester Model 1894 is one of the most widely used rifles in history. It can be considered “The Deer Hunting rifle”, as it, along with the .30-30 cartridge, has arguably been used to take more deer than any other rifle/cartridge combination in history. Designed by the famous John M. Browning, the Model 1894 (often shortened to just “94”) was produced as the first commercial smokeless powder rifle, and in combination with the .30-30 Winchester round (introduced in 1895) set the benchmark for deer hunting rifle and cartridges everywhere. Indeed, the .30-30 Winchester is considered the benchmark round in the category of rifle cartridges suitable for deer hunting. This rifle is a post-64 and is in good condition considering its age. There are a couple of scratches on the righthand side of the receiver. The receiver exhibits the unusual splotch pattern of finish wear common to post-64 Winchesters, but overall, the rifle retains most of its finish. There are some small spots of rust that have been cleaned up. The wood furniture exhibits some small scratches and dings. The two most notable examples of the latter are on the righthand side of the stock and on the bottom of the fore end. These are shown in the pictures. Mechanically, the rifle functions like it did the day it left the factory. Operating the lever system is very easy and quite smooth. The bore is in superb shape with no rust or pitting. The serial number dates the rifle to 1977 which makes it 47 years old. For those looking for a high-quality deer rifle, the Model 94 is a first-rate choice. This is not based on specifications or looks, but on over a hundred years of deer hunting history.
