This Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight Ultra Grade “1 of 1,000”, .270 WIN rifle is one of a thousand manufactured. It has a 22-inch blued barrel, a checkered French walnut stock and forend, a jeweled bolt, and sling swivels. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled to accept optic mounts (none included). The overall length of the rifle is 42 ½ inches; its unloaded weight is 6 pounds, 14.4 ounces (or 6.9 pounds). Its length of pull is approximately 13½ inches. I cannot find anything on the Internet definitively stating when these one thousand rifles were manufacture, but it appears to be in the early 1980s, probably 1982-1983. The owner of this rifle inherited it from a gunsmith friend years ago. The walnut presentation case and other accessories may exist somewhere, but who knows where – bottom line is that there are no other accessories with this rifle.
The condition of this rifle is 100 percent. I very seldom call a gun at 100 percent unless it is new-in-the-box. However, this rifle is an exception, from recoil pad to muzzle it is in perfect condition. All metal and wood components and their finishes are like new – no scratches, mars, blemishes, or any other signs of wear. Please excuse the oil smears in the photos. The checkering is likewise; it is deep and crisp with no damage. The gunsmith friend had quite a few large caliber rifles, some not fired. I believe this rifle has never been fired, unless at the factory.
