saddle ring carbine - 38 WCF
Description: This is a very nice, high condition Winchester model 1892, saddle ring carbine. The Winchester Collectors site places the year of manufacture in 1912 - 112 years old. The carbine is chambered in the .38 WCF ( 38-40 ). The 20" barrel has a bright, sharp, excellent, near mint bore. Pictures were taken outdoors in natural, somewhat harsh light that tends to exaggerate flaws. There is a high percentage of original blueing on the receiver, with some normal carry wear, scratches and flaking - but it is smooth, not pitted. The barrel and magazine tube have a higher percentage of blue - about 93-95% with just a few scattered specs and minor scratches and edge wear. The wood shows more dings, impressions, scratches and marks from normal use. The butt has a tiny splinter missing at the toe, and at the top left wrist corner - otherwise, very solid, tight, with lots of original finish remaining. The action is crisp and positive, the hammer holds at half and full cock. I have cycled a few rounds through - it feeds and ejects properly - ( I did not fire it ). Overall an excellent , honest little carbine. **** This is a modern firearm, and must ship to a FFL or C&R. Please know your local laws Before buying. Price includes shipping and full insurance. **** Thank you.
