Lynton McKenzie-Engraved Winchester High Wall Model 1885 in .222 Rimmed Caliber
Description:
This Important and Historic Rifle is a Lynton McKenzie-Engraved Winchester High Wall in .222 Rimmed Caliber (NOTE: Dies and Approximately 35 Loaded Rounds & Cases are Included). The Rifle has a 26 Inch Tapered, Round Sporting Barrel; ¼ Rib Scope Base; Weaver T-20 Duplex-Reticle Scope; Magnificently Figured and Recess-Checkered Forend & Stock with a Left-Handed Cheekpiece (easily fired by a right-handed shooter). The Forend Tip is Contrasting Wood; Recoil Pad is Pachmayr Basketweave over a Black Spacer. There is No Serial Number or other markings aside from the trademark “LMcK” initials on the bottom of the receiver – which, along with the rest of the metal and screws is Pewter (color) Finished. The barrel is rounded-sporter-crowned & the bore is in excellent condition with sharp rifling to the naked eye. All mechanical functions are perfect. The re-contoured Receiver, Lever, Pistol Grip Cap, and Every Visible Screw is Embellished with the most tasteful and elegant (not to mention, masterly executed) Scrollwork. Receiver flats show a Pheasant: poised in a tree on the left flat, and standing one-legged in a marsh on the right. To show off the engraving details, some of the photos employ darkened lighting, which also causes a reddish-orange (flash) glow. Mckenzie – whose Wikipedia Page is reproduced in part on the last photo – literally “wrote the book” on 20th Century Firearm Engraving. He was among the finest, if not the finest, firearm engravers during his lifetime (or ever) – and this example is no exception. His firearms show up for sale infrequently, making this listing an opportunity to acquire a piece of history. Please ask any questions or request additional information before purchase as this item will be costly to return owing to CA re-registration and other regulations. Any refunds will be minus our actual shipping cost and FFL fees after buyer pays return shipping. The listed price Includes Insured Ground Shipping from a CA FFL Dealer to yours. Payment is by Money Order, Bank (Certified) Check or Personal Check (held 2-3 days). We are the Estate Executor and Trustee, not a dealer, and cannot handle credit card or electronic payments. This item is subject to prior sale.
