"Rare Winchester 1873 One of Thousand (AW1141)

Description:
"Serial number 31271. Made in 1878. 44-40 caliber with a 30" barrel. The barrel has approximately 50% of the original blue finish mixed with a plum patina. The frame is a mottled gray patina. The stocks are finely checkered and are deluxe XX Walnut. The rear of the barrel is marked “ONE OF ONE THOUSAND" in cursive script with scroll engraving and a platinum band surrounding it. The magazine tube is an antiqued replacement. The bore has strong rifling and no major pitting, but is dark. The Winchester 1 of 1000 guns were made as a promotion by Winchester that only one out of every thousand barrels was of this top quality. Only 136 of these guns were made. This gun is accompanied by a factory letter confirming all features.
