Winchester Model 1866 Yellow Boy Saddle Ring Carbine in .44 Rimfire Caliber **Mfg 1868**
Description:
This 1868 vintage (serial # 17421) Model 1866 Carbine is fitted with a 20 inch barrel, 2 barrel bands, frame mounted saddle ring, walnut stock and forearm, brass butt-plate with trap-door, built on a brass frame, and chambered in the .44 Rimfire cartridge. It is in very good condition, with the barrel, magazine tube, hammer, lever, saddle ring, and bolt having turned a dark grey/silver patina. The brass frame and butt-plate have turned a pleasing dark gold. The trap door on the butt-plat has broken off at some point in its life. The bore is bright, with defined rifling, but shows corrosion throughout.. The action functions perfectly and is tight, with a secure lock-up. The stock and forearm are in good condition, are sound, with the forend showing a period modification near the tip. Though worn from use and handling, it is good looking and a very nice example of a classic Old West Winchester.
