Winchester Model 1892 Rifle * .32 WCF * Made in 1907 * Round Barrel
Description: Winchester Model 1892 Rifle, 24 inch round barrel in .32 WCF (.32-20). This one was made in 1907 making it 117 years old. It is in great mechanical condition with a smooth action that locks up tight. The bluing is very good on the barrel and magazine tube. The receiver has most of the bluing gone, like most of these old ones. My gunsmith checked this one out and pronounced it safe to fire (please consult with your gunsmith) so I ran about 20 rounds through it with no jams or malfunctions. Accuracy was acceptable, considering its age, it shot minute of tin can every time. The bore is rough but has strong riflings and cleaned up easily. The buttstock has a few chips missing near the lever, and a repair on the left side that you can easily see in the pictures. Someone with good woodworking skills could easily repair this although when I fired it there was no problem. The rifle has the correct factory sights and the correct curved steel buttplate and appears to be unaltered in any way. There are no major scratches or gouges in the wood other than what I have described. This is a very pleasant rifle to shoot with very light recoil. If you handload, you can also shoot it cheaply. I get about 20 loads out of each brass case in this caliber. Overall, this is a good example of a good old honest 1892 that is fun to shoot and handle. It is a reminder of a time when the world was a very different place.
