"Serial No. 561829B, made in 1902, 38 W.C.F., 24" Octagonal barrel marked “WINCHESTER’S REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A./ -KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29.1866 OCTOBER 16.1860-. Bore is bright with a few scattered areas of frosting noted, rifling remains strong. Forward of receiver is marked “38 W.C.F." 3RD Model dust cover is present. Metal has turned mostly to a smooth brown/grey patina with traces of blue visible between underside of barrel, edge wear is noted. Brass carrier is marked “38 CAL" Tang is stamped “Model 1873" in between decorative scroll. Wood shows light surface handling and usage wear marks. Action is smooth and functions correctly.
