Description: ****RETURNED****The Winchester Model 54 was made from 1925 to 1936, with approximately 50,145 manuifactured. The Model 54 High Power Sporter was made from 1925 to 1930. These rifles were fitted with a 24 inch barrel, open sights, 5-shot internal magazine, checkered walnut stock with serrated steel butt-plate, and chambered in .270 Win., 7x57 mm, 7.65x57mm Mauser, .30-30 Win., .30-06, or 9x57mm Mauser . This rifle is as described and is fitted with sling swivel studs (for Winchester hook type sling swivels), a Lyman 48C receiver peep sight and is chambered in .30-06. This 1st year production (serial # 1526) is in excellent original condition, retaining 60% original blue, with most loss on the floorplate and butt-plate. The attractive stock is in very fine condition, retaining most of its original finish, with assorted minor handling marks and a repair on the right side of the forearm above the checkering. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling and the action is smooth and functions perfectly. All screw-heads are mostly un-molested, including the small sight screws. Sorry, no box or paper-work.
