This is a Used, well-preserved High-Wall 1885 Sporter Takedown Model in 25-20 Caliber with Straight Stock (added shotgun style ventilated recoil pad) and Schnabel Forend with Ebony Inlay; Serial Number 109,0XX; and equipped with a Single Trigger. The Full Octagon Barrel has a two-line Address on the top flat: “ – MANUFACTURED BY THE – / -- WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. –“ The Wood is Straight-Grained, Darkened with Age, and in good condition with no checkering on the Stock or Forend. Right and left close-up photos show that a High-Comb for Scope Use has been added – skillfully, we would add. The Barrel has Two 3/8” Standard Dovetail Bases, a Standard Windage-Drift-Adjustable front sight; and there is no rear sight. Patent Date appears on the Upper Tang; and Serial Number on the Lower Tang. All markings appear relatively sharp and original. Condition is best judged by the photos for this nicely preserved working rifle that has a Stock and Bases all set up for a Vintage Scope. The barrel shows some pitting, but the rifling is well preserved throughout. Blue is preserved on the Barrel, but little if any case color remains on the receiver. All mechanical functions are tight and secure.
