Description:
26 inch round barrel chambered in the desirable big 50 caliber with a good bright shiny bore. Most all original barrel blue remains with a few small spots of scattered oxidation. Full length mag and forend cap also have most blue. Original sights include a German silver blade front and an "1876" marked flip up ladder rear. Receiver has thinning blue with some small scratches as well as a few small spots of light oxidation on the right sideplate. Possibly from poor storage long ago. Original "Winchester Express 50 Cal. 95 Grs." marked tight fitting dust cover. Traces of case color on the hammer and lever. Rifle buttplate is a plum/brown patina. Nice crisp functioning action. Walnut stocks are in very good condition. Only 873 26 inch round barrel Express rifles were built. Most of the ones you come across have a shotgun butt and a half length mag with proof marks showing they were shipped to Africa or India. This one does not have those. Factory letter confirms configuration. Not a bad example of a desirable 50 Express Winchester rifle from 1881.
