Winchester Model 75 Sporting, Pre-War
Description: SOLD, Pending Payment, 2/23/2023 This gun has the Lyman 57 sight, which was an option for these rifles. The sight alone will sell for $125 or thereabouts on Ebay. Also, cross-ovetail blocks are listed on Ebay for a couple dollars. I can make up a cardboard box with the gun encased in styrofoam that works really well. A hard case will be an additional $32.03, that is my cost at the local Dunham's. For sale is a Winchester Model 75 Sporting Rifle, Serial # 14522, made in 1941. The gun is in overall very good plus condition. The bore is bright, and the rifling looks good. The bolt is serial numbered to the gun. The gun functions exactly as it should. These guns are just a pleasure to carry and shoot. Winchester took a lot of time to manufacture the barrels and fit them to the receivers, with precise headspacing so that the guns would shoot well. There is a plain (no marking) clip. The rear bridge was drilled and at one point there was a block on that bridge--you can see a slight "ghosting" of it remaining. Evidently the dovetail in the barrel also had a cross-dovetail block, too, and some typle of target scope had been mounted. But, the gun still carries its original Lyman 57 sight. Of course, the bolt is serial numbered to the gun (one of the pictures shows this). The rifle has the correct straight (not swept) bolt, and the correct "Square Front" forearm. Both of these features were characteristic of the Pre-War Model 75 Sporting Rifles. This rifle has its original front sight hood as well. A Weaver # 35 base with screws is shown with the clip. That particular Weaver base fits the two holes in the rear bridge, but will not be included. I show that as a reference, if someone wanted to drill two holes in the front bridge they could use Weaver bases and rings with a scope. The Weaver # 36 base would work as well. These are the bases that Weaver had for the Model 722 Remingtons. They are widely available. Shipping and insurance are extra. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 75 |
