Description:
This highly coveted Pre War Winchester Model 70 in the king of all calibers .30 GOV'T. '06 (30-06) is one of the very best I have handled, and I've handled a bunch.
S/N 53205 with matching scribed bolt. Issued in 1946 immediately following WWII, but of 100% Pre War components and finishes. Interestingly, I have only seen a mere handful of the pictured 1945 barrel dates in my career. Most production stopped after 1942, then raged again from 1946 on.
Another thing that really sets this rifle apart is the honey colored walnut. Just beautiful. A very small percentage of the walnut had this trait, most being more of a medium or slightly reddish brown, this color seen more often on earlier guns and even then, on relatively few.
99% original finishes throughout. Spotless internals.
24" standard weight barrel. Bore and mechanics are of course superb. Undrilled rear bridge. All correct components, etc. Truly as good as it gets!
Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska.
