Description:
Here's a beautiful and practical Model 70 in the highly sought after 30-06 FWT which I am pricing as a "shooter grade" due to a couple of discrepancies from original.
The barrel channel has been nicely glass bedded, although this is not readily apparent when viewed externally. The stock finish has also been lightly refreshed with a coat of oil, and the aluminum components of floorplate and buttplate have received a spray of matte enamel over the anodization which is actually quite durable and much better looking than chewed up or raw aluminum.
S/N 382134 with matching scribed bolt made in 1956.
22" slim profile barrel with an excellent bore and nice original bluing. All mechanical functions appear to be working smoothly and properly as well.
The wood is very sharp with no significant blems and shows some subtle but very nice tiger stripe graining.
It's hard to imagine a better rifle to take afield than a Winchester Model 70 in this caliber and configuration, and this is an exact clone to the rifle I've carried through most of my 40 year guiding career here in Alaska. I'm certain that this one will serve you just as well, without breaking the bank.
