****SOLD**** Here we have a very minty Custom Shop Winchester Model 70 Classic Sharpshooter II bolt action rifle in .22-250 caliber. The Winchester Model 70 is a bolt-action sporting rifle. It has an iconic place in American sporting culture and has been held in high regard by shooters since it was introduced in 1936, earning the moniker "The Rifleman's Rifle". In 1999, Shooting Times magazine named the Model 70 the "Bolt-action Rifle of the Century". The model 70 action is a modified Mauser style action incorporating a three position safety and a full length extractor.  With the safety swing lever pressed all the way forward the rifle is in fire, with it half way back and extended out perpendicular to the bolt, the rifle is on safe but the bolt will cycle allowing the operator to safely unload the rifle if needed. With the safety swung all the way back to the rear it locks everything down preventing the bolt from cycling or the trigger from firing. It is a traditional setup, and very effective.This Model 70 is a limited Custom Shop Classic Sharpshooter II chambered in .22-250 caliber. The benchrest style stock is made by H-S Precision. The stock is a traditional H-S Precision stock made with their now very familiar kevlar, fiberglass and carbon fiber synthetic materials and has a full length bedding block. There is a moderately sized recoil pad on the butt end of the rifle and the stock has a high cheekpiece to help align the eye with the scope.  The vertical grip with the ambidextrous palm swell provides an excellent platform for those who prefer to shoot from a bench. The barrel is made from a blank also manufactured by H-S Precision. When looking at the eleven degree recessed target crown on the barrel it is obvious that it was custom machined and done with care. The trigger on the Customer Sharpshooter II has a nice wide trigger shoe with vertical ribs to provide a great trigger feel, but what is more important is how the trigger actually functions. There is no noticeable takeup, slack or overtravel. It is very clear that this trigger has been worked over by the custom shop during the build and it is excellent! This particular example appears to be unfired since leaving the factory. It has only light handling and storage marks. The heavy 26" barrel has a minty bore with strong rifling. The receiver has scope bases installed....just needs rings and an optic to make a great bench rig. This fine Winchester would be a great addition to a Model 70 collection or an awesome bench rifle. No box with this one.
