Winchester Model 1895 Russian Musket

Description:
The item for sale is a Winchester Model 1895 Russian Musket. It is chambered for the 7.62x54mmR cartridge as all Russian Muskets. It is in very good condition and original with two exceptions. The charger guides have been removed. These were a request by the Russians to allow the musket to be reloaded with the same charger clip used on the Mosin-Nagant. Additionally, the forward portion of the stock was shortened eliminating the bayonet lug. These changes do not affect the function of the rifle but rather an attempt to sporterize it. The musket retains the original rear sight which is unique to the 1895 Russian Musket and this one retains most of the original factory blue. A scarce and desirable sight in this condition. The upper forearm wood is very good. The fore stock is in nice condition, however shortened as stated. The butt stock retains the correct butt plate with the trapdoor. The walnut stock is nice with a professional repair at the wrist (see photos). The barrel blue is quite nice with the correct front sight. Overall the blue is better than typically found on these muskets. The action works smoothly and locks up tightly when cycled. The bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling. A copy of a FFL or C&R will be required prior to shipment. Please include $45 for shipping and insurance.
