Winchester Model 1895 Carbine, U.S. Stamped, Cal. .30 ARMY (30-40 Krag)

Description: Winchester Model 1895 Carbine fitted with a 22 inch barrel, adjustable military style rear sight, brass blade front sight, military style walnut top handguard, walnut forearm with one barrel band, walnut straight grip stock with steel carbine syle butt-plate with trapdoor, "U.S. stamped receiver with saddle ring, and chambered in .230 ARMY (30-40 Krag). This 1915 vintage Winchester Carbine is in good condition, with the barrel retaining just traces of original blue, with the rest having turned a grey patina. The frame, magazine, and lever have lost all of their original finishes and have turned a silver/brown patina. The butt-plate has lost all of its original finish and has turned a grey patina. The bore shows visible rifling, but is frosty throughout, and there is a bulge located approximately under the rear sight. The stock and forearms have been sanded/refinished and the top handguard has a number of cracks, also the stock has a small crack just behind the upper tang. The saddle ring has been added by using a screw with a hole drilled through it and the U.S. stamp is questionable.
