Winchester Model 94 .30-30 Pre-64 Made 1943-47 Good Condition
Description: The Winchester Model 1894 is one of the most widely used rifles in history. It can be considered “The Deer Hunting rifle”, as it, along with the .30-30 cartridge, has arguably been used to take more deer than any other rifle/cartridge combination in history. Designed by the famous John Browning, the Model 1894 (often shortened to just ’94 or 94) was produced as the first commercial smokeless powder rifle, and in combination with the .30-30 Winchester round (introduced in 1895) set the benchmark for deer hunting rifle and cartridges everywhere. Indeed, the .30-30 Winchester is considered the benchmark round in the category of rifle cartridges suitable for deer hunting. This rifle is a pre-64 and is in good condition considering its age of 74-78 years as of 2021. Made between 1943 and 1947, poor record keeping by Winchester during that period, like due to the war, makes it impossible to pin down the exact year the rifle left the factory. It has the usual amount of wear a gun from its era would be expected to have. There are a few minor marks on the wood furniture and for the fore end there is a small crack at the rear though appears to have been repaired at some point. The top of the barrel just in front of the rear sight exhibits shallow pitting. The receiver exhibits a unique style of finish loss shaped like wisps of smoke. The magazine tube also exhibits finish loss. The rifle’s bore is a little dirty but is in fantastic shape with no pitting. It would make an excellent shooter.
