Antique 1894 Winchester 30-30 Caliber Octagon Barrel. Made In 1895. 60% Barrel Blue. Very Good Bore. Excellent Mechanics.
Description:
SOLD...Antique 1894 Winchester 30-30 caliber. Standard 26" barrel. Here is the another Winchester I am selling for a friend that bought this gun from me a few years ago. Octagon barrel. A nice antique 94 with quite a bit of finish on the barrel. In the great shooting 30-30 caliber. S/N 25622 and made in 1895 second year production. The bore is very good with very strong rifling. Just shows some frosting with no deep pitting at all and no breaks in the rifling. Will clean better I am sure. It shoots great as it is. The mechanics are excellent. It feeds, fires and ejects perfectly with no issues. The barrel has at least 60% slightly thinning original blue finish. Some fellows would say 80% but under bright light you can see it has thinned out a little so I want to be very accurate on the condition. The mad tube also has some blue in the protected ares under the barrel... The receiver has very good traces of blue with a little more on the left side as you can see in the photos. The balance of the metal has surface crud scattered about from poor storage at one time. Some light pitting also in places but nothing deep or very bad. The worst of the pitting is at the S/N as you can see. The lever has some traces of case colors up next to the receiver where protected and a little on the hammer sides. I can send more photos if you need them of areas that you want to see. I want everyone to see what they are buying and want them to be happy. The sights are original with the rear sight being the rare and sought after Express 3 leaf style. All original and correct. The markings are excellent as you can see but the S/N having the roughness around it. The screw heads are all sharp and clean and not burred up from tinkering. Still retains the original early heart shaped or “widows peak” knurling hammer. The wood on this 94 is very nice with the forearm fitting very full and proud to the metal at the receiver and end cap. NO splits, cracks or repairs of any kind and shows normal honest light dings and scratches and no abuse at all. The butt stock is very nice as well being full and proud to the receiver and fitting even on the upper and lower tang from honest handling. Shows a little wear at the toe as is common and a tight short grain split on the left side about an inch up from the toe as you can see in the photo. Very nice honest wood and still showing nice color and not all oil soaked and never sanded on or messed with... This is a pretty nice ole 94 with some finish and if it was not for the surface crud scattered about it would be priced much higher of course. But it is what it is my friends and if you can live with that, you will be pleased. These true early antique 94's are getting very hard to find with even a little finish at a reasonable price these days. Just a very honest and untouched 94 that still has many more decades left in it for hunting, shooting and collecting. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $50 insured shipping. Thank you for looking and check back often as I have many more guns to get listed.
