They were used in shooting gallery booths at county fairs and carnivals for use with speed loaders. Winchester 1890s have often been called Gallery Guns, but most have rectangular shaped loading gates. These are not Gallery Guns. This is a 3rd Model 1890 Winchester take down rifle with matching serial numbers. According to "The Winchester Arms Collectors Association" was manufactured in 1930. It has a 24” octagon barrel and crescent shaped butt plate. The metal finish is smooth, shows no rust or pitting changing to a nice dark patina and the markings are clearly legible The bore is clean, no sign of pitting and looks shootable. It comes with 5 vintage high capacity "15 shot" metal gallery loading tubes.
The tubes are stamped "WESTERN /TRADEMARKS/WINCHESTER/ MADE IN USA". Vintage loading tubes are hard to find and are expensive.
