Extremely Scarce Winchester Model 1876 in 50-95 Express Caliber Factory Short Rifle with Factory Letter
Description:
For sale from my collection is an extremely scarce Winchester Model 1876 Rifle in 50-95 Express. Express Rifles are scarce but Short Express Rifles are very rare. This is a factory short rifle with a 22 inch barrel, half magazine and shotgun butt. It is British proofed and was certainly made for big game hunting in India or Africa. Madis called these "Cat Guns" as they had a massive stopping power and a repeating capacity to stop the charge of a lion or tiger. The factory letter confirms all the features. It is mechanically excellent and tight. The bore is decent showing use and light pitting here and there but very shootable should you choose to do so. The makings are crisp and clear. The metal is smooth with most of the blue worn or faded but with a nice pleasing patina. The wood is in very good condition, and fits nicely to the metal. This is a great Winchester in a very desirable caliber in a rare configuration. Shipping is $50 with insurance extra at buyer request and additional cost. Thanks for looking. I will be listing other antique firearms as I am thinning out my collection. Getting too old to keep everything!
