Description:
This is a beautiful and scarce New Haven-made Winchester Model 70 Classic Sporter with a factory BOSS system chambered in the potent 300 Winchester Magnum. Purchased from the original owner, this rifle was scoped and sighted then put into a safe where it has remained ever since.  This Winchester Model 70 Classic Sporter features a 26" inch barrel with the tunable factory-installed BOSS muzzle brake and the famous pre-64 style controlled round feed action with a Mauser-style extractor, well-known the world over for it's reliability and strength.  The condition of the rifle is excellent.  If not for a few tiny little safe dings/handling marks it would be pristine.  The factory gloss blue finish rates 99%, and the bore is mirror-bright with like-new razor-sharp rifling.  The satin-finished and checkered American Walnut stock is in excellent condition as well, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  The stock shows only a few tiny safe dings that are only visible under close inspection, and the factory stock hardware is in like-new condition.  The buttstock was factory fit with a Winchester-branded recoil pad and the length of pull is 13.75" inches to the end of the pad, the factory original length.  Note: The recoil pad has a small piece of rubber missing from the heel. The action on this rifle is very slick and precise, and the bolt turns into battery with no grit or slop.  All of the controls on this Winchester are in perfect working order, including the trigger which is excellent for a factory unit.  If you have been looking for a American-made vintage Winchester Model 70 for your collection or a serious big game hunting rifle this is it.
