Extremely unique and ultra rare Winchester 1886 Naval Life Line Throwing Rifle!
It uses 45-70 caliber blanks to propel a brass rod which has a specially coiled braided line attached, from inside of a securely mounted canister.
Fully lettered and documented S/N 154427 made in 1915.
Excellent, all original condition throughout, with no notable mars or corrosion anywhere. The unaltered finishes have some expected wear and light handling marks.
14 1/2" Barrel with an excellent, near mirror smoothbore.
All mechanical functions are crisp and flawless.
Special factory markings/stamps are all present and correct, including the verified underbarrel stampings.
Comes complete with a good copy of a Cody Firearms Museum letter of provenance, an original line winding apperatus in mint condition, various rods, and a wooden case.
