Winchester Limited Edition Centennial Three Gun Set
Description:
Offered for your consideration is an extremely rare matched-serial-number three-gun Winchester Limited Edition Centennial Set. Only a handful of these sets are known to exist. There were only 94 of the Custom models produced, and these are sometimes seen offered individually for sale. I have only found indications of three 3-gun sets trading hands in the last 15 years. It is unknown, and perhaps unknowable, how many of these 3-gun sets are in existence, but it is a very small number. Any set that exists will have a serial number between1 and 94. The set being offered is serial number 17. All three rifles are LNIB, and include original boxes, sleeves, and shipping cartons. Examine the photos. If you want additional photos, just ask. The information below is taken from an article that appeared in American Rifleman, December 1993, by Robert W. Hunnicutt
In 1994 Winchester is celebrating the Model 94's centennial with three limited edition .30-30s. The top of the line is the Model 94 Custom Limited Edition Centennial. Its receiver is gray finished with hand-cut engraving and gold inlay that follows the No.5 pattern used early in the century. Pronghorns decorate the right side of the action, caribou the left. All 94 of the custom grade rifles were engraved by Master Gun Engraver Kurt Horvath. The fancy walnut pistol grip stock has a crescent butt-plate and "F"-style checkering. The 26" barrel is half-round, half-octagon and is roll-marked "1894-1994”. A half-magazine holds four rounds. The tang is fitted with a reproduction Lyman sight that follows the original No.2 in design. Just 94 of these were made, at a tall price of $4,684.
The second rifle in the set is the Model 94 Limited Edition High Grade, which was priced at $1,272. This has a semi-fancy walnut stock whose configuration is similar to its more expensive stablemate's, and it also features the Lyman sight and half-magazine. It has a blued receiver with No.6 pattern rolled engraving on both receiver sides, and "F" style checkering. A gold wire outline sets off a gold inlaid ram on the left side and a deer on the right; 3,000 were made.
The third rifle in the set is the Model 94 limited Edition Grade I. Some 12,000 were made and sold at $811 each. The Grade I is decorated in the style of the turn-of-the-century No.9 pattern with checkering in the "H" point pattern. There is no tang sight, though the tang is drilled and tapped for one. All the custom 94s have Lyman open sights.
Buyer pays actual costs for shipping and insurance.
