This ornateley engraved Westley Richards double rifle is a beautiful example of 1930's English gun making at it finest. SN 4629, 26" BBL, caliber 400 Nitro Express (450/400 3inch). Cased Westley RIchards boxlock double rifle. Case colored boxlock with tight scroll engraving featuring WESTLEY RICHARDS inlaid in gold on both sides. Bottom of the reciever has the same pattern engraving with walking tiger jungle background. Trigger guard has a roaring tiger game scene as well. Barrel is marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS & Co LONDON | MADE EXPRESSLY FOR LYON & LYON CALCUTTA" Bbls are mounted with ramped blade front sight and 5 leaf express rear sight. Underside of Bbl is marked 400EX, 400MAX, 60 Cordite. This rifle has a double trigger with extractors, 14-1/2" LOP from front trigger, and is cased in an oak and leather trunk case including Westley Richards label on lid. The condition of this rifle is very fine as expertly restored. Bores are excellent and bright, the case colors are vivid, and the engraving is crisp. The action on this double opperates just as it should. The highly figured walnut stock has sharp checkering and a fine english oil finish. This is a wonderful BIG GAME double rifle.
