Description:
Westley Richards & Co. Best Quality bolt action magazine rifle completed in the 1980's and chambered in .375 H&H Magnum. The rifle is based on an original standard length Mauser action with a straddle floorplate and inside the bow release, a 3-position M70 type safety, a "spotted" or "jeweled" bolt body with the top of the receiver drilled and tapped for conventional scope bases.
The 25" barrel (24 1/2" out of the receiver) has a quarter rib with 1 standing/2 folding leaf sights engraved with their respective distances (100, 200, 300 yds), a barrel band front sling swivel, and a combination foresight with Westley's patented folding sight protector.
The walnut stock has a traditional stock shape with a RH beaded cheekpiece, a 14 13 3/4" LOP over a leather covered pad, a full pistol grip with a trap grip cap, a single steel recoil bar, and a horn forend tip. The grip and forearm have a traditional point pattern checkering with Mullered borders.
The metal has a traditional black finish and has near full coverage engraving in traditional small scroll pattern with the bust of a kudu inlayed in gold on the floor plate.
The rifle remains in very good original condition. It shows some handling marks but does not appear to have had any bases or scope mounted to the action. Bore is excellent. Stock shows some marks but no cracks or repairs.
