Westley Richards .30-06 model 98 Cased Mint Condition.
Description: Westley Richards .30-06 Cased. This rifle is of fairly recent manufacture and remains in new condition overall. The action is a standard length 98 with a Blackburn trigger, jewelled bolt, case color shroud with "safe" in gold, blue is near perfect on both action and guard, no provision for open sights, permanent scope mounts with Zeiss Diavari C 3-9X36MC that is clear with duplex reticle, marked "30-06 Springfield" Birmingham nitro proof 30-06 5265 BAR, right side of ring marked Westley Richards and serial number. The barrel is 27" with no open sights, very small areas of thinning blue just ahead of fore end that could be covered by a no.2 pencil eraser, barrel band sling swivel, bore is perfect. The stock is walnut with wonderful contrast of grain, horn fore end tip, perfect chequering and finish, case colored grip cap, 14 1/2" length of pull to a lined horn butt plate, crestplate is blank, wood to metal fit is above average, even for Westley! This rifle is cased in a full length leather case that has slight foxing and some scuffs on the outside, the interior is perfect. 9lbs 14oz. 0434991 AHSSS Sold Pending Funds This rifle is, to my taste, the best Westley Richards bolt rifle I have ever had the pleasure to sell. It is a modern interpretation of the classic American Pre War sporter that gets it all right. The balance is just absolutely perfect, the pistol grip is perfect, the thumb-hole is proportioned correctly, the cheek piece is "eye sweet" as Rich would say and when you look into the grain, it seems to go on forever. I do not personally own this rifle, it is a consignment...
