Description: Presented here is a Taylors & Co/Uberti Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine reproduction in .45 Colt caliber. Winchester developed the 1873 that this rifle is patterned after. Winchester’s Model 1873 was the “Rifle that Won the West.” The Model 1873 was chambered in a new more powerful cartridge the .44/40 — a .44 caliber bullet propelled by 40 grains of black powder. However one big factor that really insured the success of the 1873 was that Colt quickly responded by offering its frontier six-shooter chambered in .44/40. A cowboy could have both a lever action rifle and his “Peacemaker” and only need one cartridge belt. So, a person with a .45 Colt revolver could pair this carbine with it and only need one cartridge to go walkabout in the woods. This particular example is in outstanding physical and mechanical condition. Only the lightest of handling and storage marks are exhibited on this handsome lever action. The action is incredibly smooth and silky. The 19 inch barrel has a bright bore and very strong rifling. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation. This beautiful carbine would make a great addition to a collection of lever actions or an excellent woods gun.
