DISCONTINUED THOMPSON-CENTER FLINTLOCK HAWKEN MUZZLE LOADING .50 CALIBER HALF-STOCK RIFLE WITH BOX ETC. These fine American made rifles were discontinued about ten years ago. They were some of the very few American made muzzle loaders as most were imported from Italy and elsewhere. Very high quality with brass mountings, patchbox, adjustable rear sight, cheek piece, double set triggers, 28" octagon barrel and walnut stock. This example is new with the original matching number box and comes with the original T-C warranty card, cleaning jag and how-to book that gives loading data etc. Interestingly, these rifles can be loaded down using small powder charges and a round ball for target/small game shooting or loaded up using (according to the T-C booklet) a "Maxi-Ball" conical bullet with 100 grains of black powder which will handle about any game in North America and is the equivalent of the big .50 caliber Sharps buffalo gun cartridges! Many more of these were made in percussion ignition than flintlock and finding one new with the original box is a rarity. Considering the American manufacture and quality these are a bargain.
