This is NOT A COMMERCIAL/RETAIL MODEL that one can find at readily at their local gun shop... This model WAS ONLY SOLD TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, MILITARIES and PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES and could only be found in Ruger’s Law Enforcement Catalog! ! Luckily over the years a few have escaped out in to the wild and this is one of them!!
There are many different variations of the Mini-14, for example: the Mini 14 Ranch Rifle, Mini- 14 tactical & Mini 30 to just name a few, all of these are all intended for the civilian sporting market. While the commercial Mini-14's are quite popular , by far the most sought after variant that is available in the US market is the Ruger Mini-14 GB!
This is mainly for two, well actually three reasons:
The first reason being - that Ruger only made two Para-millitary Mini-14's which are: the fully auto AC556 and the semi-auto version the Mini-14 GB which the latter was Ruger's main Mini for Law Enforcement sales. The key accessory for the rifle, other than the rifle itself was the folding stock that was inspired for the AC556K. A solid piece of design from a bygone era of wood and steel. In today's markets; the folding stock actually costs as much as a current production Mini-14 due to popularity and rarity. The Mini-14 GB also has a thicker profile barrel with a a flash hider and mounting lug for the US M7 bayonet.

A gorgeous! Super EARLY! 1985 Ruger Mini-14 GB (Government Barrel) in .223/5.56mm, in the HIGHLY DESIRABLE Stainless Steel & Foldable stock configuration!!!!
This is NOT A COMMERCIAL/RETAIL MODEL that one can find at readily at their local gun shop... This model WAS ONLY SOLD TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, MILITARIES and PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES and could only be found in Ruger’s Law Enforcement Catalog! ! Luckily over the years a few have escaped out in to the wild and this is one of them!!
There are many different variations of the Mini-14, for example: the Mini 14 Ranch Rifle, Mini- 14 tactical & Mini 30 to just name a few, all of these are all intended for the civilian sporting market. While the commercial Mini-14's are quite popular , by far the most sought after variant that is available in the US market is the Ruger Mini-14 GB!
This is mainly for two, well actually three reasons:
The first reason being - that Ruger only made two Para-millitary Mini-14's which are: the fully auto AC556 and the semi-auto version the Mini-14 GB which the latter was Ruger's main Mini for Law Enforcement sales. The key accessory for the rifle, other than the rifle itself was the folding stock that was inspired for the AC556K. A solid piece of design from a bygone era of wood and steel. In today's markets; the folding stock actually costs as much as a current production Mini-14 due to popularity and rarity. The Mini-14 GB also has a thicker profile barrel with a a flash hider and mounting lug for the US M7 bayonet.
The second reason- for Mini-14GB to be so highly sought after is that in 1984, American TV audiences became intimately familiar with the Mini 14 GB-F rifle on season two of NBC's "The A-Team." Airing until 1987, the A-Team appeared in living rooms across the country, wielding Ruger Mini 14 GB-F rifles as its trademark problem solver!!!!
The third reason- is that On April 11, 1986, an event in Pinecrest, Fla., became one of several incidents that changed the way America's law enforcement agencies trained and armed themselves. Around 9:30 a.m., an FBI rolling stakeout spotted the suspect car of two serial bank robbers, William Matix and Michael Platt. In the ensuing gunfight, Michael Platt used a Ruger Mini-14 to shoot seven FBI agents, killing two before being being shot and killed himself... This incident lead Mr. Ruger to ensure that no Mini-14 GB's would get in the hands of civilians and he banned all sales of the side folding stock in 1990!!
This is hands down the most sought after Mini-14 variation! Being a law enforcement/para- military model, THIS IS A COLLECTORS DREAM! THIS RIFE IS AN EXTRAORDINARY INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY!
