Steyr Mannlicher M95 Infantry Long Rifle 8x50R **SOLD**
Description: This Steyr Model 1895 rifle is still chambered in the original 8x50mmR cartridge and NOT import marked. It most likely came to this country after World War 1 as pretty much all rifles still in Austrian service were rechambered post war to 8x56mmR. We rarely see original chambered M95s, with examples not import marked even more scarce. This Steyr Model 1895 Stright-Pull Military rifle was manufactured in 1901 and was in Austrian Military service during World War 1. The Austrian military acceptance stamp is on top of the barrel just ahead of the receiver "Wn Eagle 1". This Steyr still has it's original factory finish on it which shows a lot of wear, but has a nice consistent gray-blue patina to it. As you can see from the pictures, the whole rifle has a great combat-used original look to it. All of the numbered parts on this Steyr are original and matching. The stock is in good shape for a combat used rifle more than 100 years old. The wood shows lots of minor dings, dents, and scratches. This M95 appears to be in perfect working order. All of the controls work properly, and the bolt locks into battery cleanly as it was designed to. The bore shows frosting in the grooves, but the lands in the rifling are nice and strong throughout. We have no doubt that this Steyr would be an excellent shooter. If you have been looking for a new addition for your military rifle collection that has a ton of World War 1 history, this rare Steyr M95 in 8x50mmR would be an excellent choice.
