Offered here for sale and just acquired is this RARE , early and original Stevens-Springfield .22 semi auto rifle which was known as the “Gill Gun” due to its vented receiver to promoted to reduce gas. Made for only two years between 1938-40 most of these guns were in standard .22 caliber (and in past we have had many). However this is the FIRST in our memory over our more than 5 decades in the business to have been stamped “22 SHOT”. The specimen has a 24” barrel and is SMOOTHBORE. 14 shell capacity. The gun has seen only light use and is in fine early condition and can be acquired as a curio & relic.
