32-5/8 inch round barrel chambered in 45-70 caliber with a very good bore. Blade front sight and Buffington rifle-style rear. Overall gun in very good condition. Breech block markings are faint but show the correct early "1873" marking with the Eagle head and crossed arrows. Metal is mostly a lightly pitted silver/brown patina. Lockplate is marked "1873". "Springfield" marking is light. Barrel markings are legible along with the side cartouche on the stock. The stock belly cartouche is faint. Very good wood has two solid cracks and a well done repair. Arsenal marking "58" on buttplate and the letter "C" above on the wood. Trapdoor latch could use a tune up. Has three swivels. No cleaning rod is present. Interesting old gun!
