WWI OR WW1 & WW2 MARINE CORPS USMC SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1903 .30-06 CAL. RIFLE DATED 4-42.
Description: WWI OR WW1 & WW2 MARINE CORPS USMC SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1903 .30-06 CAL. RIFLE DATED 4-42. All original WW1 early rifle serial numbered in the 449,xxx range originally produced in 1910 and in a documented U.S.M.C. serial range. Reissue in April 1942 with Marine Corps contract new Sedgely barrel stamped behind front sight “USMC/4-42/CIRCLED S”. Sedgely contracted with the Marines directly for barrels to their specifications during the early stages of the war prior to issue of the Garand with these re-barreled rifles seeing extensive service during the Guadalcanal Campaign and others. Very good overall with much original finish. Wood with old patina and varnish over the original finish. Clearly visible cartouche on the stock opposite the bolt handle. Front band missing screw which is easy to find. Working order and excellent bore. Very hard to find Marine Corps Model 1903. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .30-06 Springfield |
