Early Model 1877 Trapdoor Carbine chambered in .45-70 with a 22"" round barrel. Serial Number is hard to make out. Looks to be an ""R/*104*"". Barrel and other iron parts are a dark grey patina with mottled surface oxidation visible. Rear sight is the early non-slotted, breech has high arch and a three click tumbler has been added. Bore shows strong rifling with areas of oxidation noted. Stock has expected usage and wear, an old repair is noted by the saddle ring bar. Butt plate is marked ""US/39"". More than likely this carbine saw some use in the Indian Wars!
