SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / KRAG JORGENSEN - MODEL 1892. 30" BARREL. VERY NICE ANTIQUE RIFLE W-MINTY BORE! MFG. IN 1895 - .30-40 KRAG
Description: Here is a prime example of a Springfield Armory / Krag Jorgensen Model 1892 bolt action rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag. The serial number is 10417 which puts it at a manufacturing date of 1895. This was the predecessor to the Springfield 1903 and what a great rifle this was! This rifle was standard issue for the United States Military until being replaced by the 1903. Famous for it's unique magazine. The magazine is an ingenious design which allows you to just drop the cartridges in loosely and shut the loading gate. This made it very easy to load and top off cartridges when running low on ammo. The action on this gun is very smooth and works excellent. Overall this beauty is in excellent condition especially considering that it is well over 100 years old and considered an antique now. The barrel is 30" with a very nice looking bore that has excellent crisp rifling. The finish has thinned down to a nice patina but there is still some of the original bluing remaining on the barrel. The stock has some battle scars but is in great sound condition considering the age. The metal is all in excellent condition only minimal signs of faint pitting anywhere. The internal action and bolt look superb! Really, this vintage beauty does not appear to have been used a whole lot while in service. Length of pull is about 13.25" to the factory metal butt plate. The sights are both in good shape. This rifle would make an excellent addition to your vintage military firearm collection.
